Hydrogen doesn’t spontaenously copy itself.
No, we’re all stardust.
Okay I was wrong.
How does “stardust” formulate awareness? What properties of the dust allow it to become aware of itself?
I said we’re all stardust, what does this have to do with awareness?
what is the difference between the dust in a human and the dust on the moon? One is aware and the other is not. Which begs the question, if you’re going to reduce humanity to it’s constituent elements, how does that account for awareness?
Ehem. Stick your head out of your ass.
I was raised religious (Catholic family, catholic schools up until I was 18 ), but I see the problems with religion.
Then again, I tend to see a lot of problems with human-created concepts.
I was raised religious on a Christian school and I had a creationist teacher until the age of 12. After that I learned new stuff from my parents about evolution (not the whole story though) and I see problems with religion too.
All elements heavier than hydrogen are formed by nuclear fusion in the cores of large stars. So I say again, yes we are all stardust when it comes to elements.
Since we’re talking about how we were raised. I was raised by roman catholic parents but instead of trying to brainwash us, they encouraged us to choose our own belief as we see fit. Damn fine parenting I say, or at least in that aspect.
One of the things (some would say the only important thing) that makes “we” “us” is awareness. Surely you aren’t saying it was formed by nuclear fusion?
Yes, actually it was.
so there’s some “element heavier than hydrogen” somewhere in the human body which produces awareness? why hasn’t science said anything about this.
I’m just implying that the heavier elements we are made of came from stars, nothing more.
and i’m implying that we aren’t reductible to our elements
Is it so hard to understand what I mean?
I’m saying (,not going to speak for all of us,) that all of the matter we are made from comes from one nuclear reaction or another.
I know that, but it started with the reactions within the cores of stars. I’m not saying humanity evolved from stardust just like that.
I know, I’m agreeing with you.
