You guys sure know how to create the most unnecessary & convoluted solutions to really trivial problems.
Well, I get the funny feeling that the median of all these suggestions is what we’ll see in the final product. I’m sure the team have addressed this tactfully.
My funny feeling somehow tells me that not a single bit of all these suggestions is what we’ll see in the final product. I’m sure the team have ignored them rightfully.
It’s a pity they probably did, too. I personally wanted Xen to have parts of the BM facility ported into it to mix up the layout and vary the combat between platforming, as well as having a stealth bomber crash sequence. But it was wayyyy too complicated, at least the latter part.
If you ask me, the former could be done relatively simply as long as the BM chapters have been finalized- copy paste parts of the rooms into Xen, build some Xen rockwork and stuff into them, populate them with agrunts and some dead scientists and voila no more unforgiving jumping puzzle hell.
I dunno. It’s likely that they actualy care about the suggestions and that, considering the Facebook release, they are nearing completion.
Well, since Raminator already said no & since they’re nearing release, odds are they wouldn’t change it because it would require too much work to get right for too little pay-off.
This has probably already been mentioned in this thread, I can’t be bothered to look. In half life, there is a large room (level) in Xen where there are a lot of vortigaunts… they do not attack you, they ignore you. These developers are clever so I bet they know about this and have thought about it… I wonder, in black mesa, what they do, attack or not (That is if the room is even similar).
It’s actually what the thread’s all about.
you are so close minded it is pathetic.
just…pathetic…
:hmph:
You called Ram pathetic…
O_o
Oh my god
I actually love the idea of Vortiguants running with you near the end of the game and helping you fight some Alien controllers and stuff as a sign of your winning them over.
The animation already exists for Half Life 2, so it would be awesome to see.
Too bad we wont – no big deal though.
Trunk, what Ram is saying is that you can’t expect people to judge and react to environments & NPC’s in Black Mesa based on a reference outside of the game if you expect it to be a standalone experience.
The mechanics necessary to convey this scenario need to be self contained and clear enough for you to form an idea of what is going on without prior knowledge of later parts in the series being necessary.
Also note that Ram does not actually say that this scenario will not appear in Xen. Xen is on an information blacklist remember?
Maybe it will be in, maybe it won’t - we’ll just have to wait and see like good little boys and girls.
As far as I know, there was an issue in that the developers couldn’t figure out how to get this particular piece into the game without making it look like a glitch. This feature has not only been vocally proven popular, but it’s been figured out how to get it into the game without making it look like a glitch.
Yet you’re not concerned with any of that or replying to a debate, just about running others down. Personally I’m not that bothered whether it goes in or not, but I enjoy the suggestions.
While I don’t agree with Dias that the “Passivisity” Scenario should not be included in the mod, it would be unfair to say that he has not been a part of the conversation.
Not wanting an element to appear in a cheap form that risks breaking immersion and confusing the player and explaining the rationale behind that is as valuable a contribution to this discussion as a post endorsing the idea.
Counterpoints are a necessity for healthy discussion and they help those of us thinking up ideas of how to make this work and take note of the challenges that need to be overcome in those ideas.
And I’m not sure what you mean by “it’s been figured out.”
The issue still seems to be in question imho.
but for those who have no idea how a game works, or how to make a game, or the logistics and mechanics that make up a game like half life, they think it was done on purpose and is an actual part of the game.
that is something a company like valve separates themselves from everyone else, because they understand that. why else was barney retconned?
valve is even known to go “oops” and pretend they did things on purpose. that is how mistakes are made, and lessons are learned. and valve is a champion at it.
regardless of the intention, its understanding the perception and experiance of the people playing your game, and modifying the game accordingly.
thats why old school games are so much better than new games. they ALWAYS had to compensate for shitty graphics, or faults of other kinds.
if what i was saying wasnt true, this thread would not exist.
Yes, that’s exactly right. Which is why I’m sure that this aspect we’re discussing has been solved by the team and not simply scrapped.
Oh dear god.
raminators attitude makes me concern.jpg
In theory it has, but nothing’s been proven. Implementing & testing these different suggestions could take time that would be better spent finishing up the rest of the game. I don’t know why I bother stating this, because every other time it gets blatantly ignored.
Even I can only tolerate a tedious circular debate for so long before I just stop giving a shit.
So, within the 18 days since Raminator said that it won’t be in the game, you think they managed to redo it? I’d like some of what you’re smoking.
