The official name of the Republic is just Ireland. I added the Southern bit because Northern Ireland is mentioned in the UK, and I thought it would make it a bit clearer for people from the other side of the world

You are right in some sense, but actually statistics show that the lower social classes of Brazil have diminished drastically in the last 10 years (iirc it decreased by half) and that decreasing is likely to continue. There is new millionaire every 10 minutes! Statistics say in a near future (I don’t remember in which year) Brazil will become the emergent country with most millionaires (yes, more than China, even thought the country itself will have only a fraction of China’s GDP by then).
The classification “millionaire” is taken in dollars, not in “reais”, of course.
Don’t forget Brazil is not a underdeveloped, but an emergent country. And it’s growing
