I love RPS. So i’m glad I liked and agreed with their review
I can honestly say that I haven’t had one glitch.
The game installed straight from the box and I haven’t suffered any of the problems that have been mentioned in some reviews.
This must be a reflection on the game testing prior to release.
The guy behind Zero Punctuation and noted Half-Life fan, the video game critic Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw, just put up an Extra Punctuation column on Black Mesa and he actually really likes it, (which means we probably shouldn’t expect a full Zero Punctuation review of it), and thinks that the devs did an especially good job using the strengths of the Source engine and in the characterization of the NPCs.
Of note Yahtzee also made this sweet retrospective of Half-Life.
Wish they had released BlackMesa with Freeman going to Xen. I setup the game on my puter but after reading about all the problems with bugs, computer glitches, and other undesirable changes I decided not to bother. I hope all of you enjoy the game though.

I strongly suggest you give it a chance, it’s really very good. You could wait until Xen is released though, I suppose.
I didn’t, either. I had a few FPS problems though, the worst being the scene in We’ve Got Hostiles when you exit outside and there’s tons of stuff exploding.
Any Canadians in here watch Reviews on the Run? (used to be Judgement Day in the US Victor Lucas and Tommy Tallarico hosted it Tommy left to do Video Games Live now its just Victor Lucas and Scott Jones and other various hosts), They just reviewed Black Mesa on their recent episode. The game got a Solid 9.0/10.0 from both reviewers.
