Black Mesa Patch - 0.2.1 - Jan 24th, 2016

The new Crossfire map doesn’t seem to replace the old version when a client updates their game.

Confirmed from 3 people including myself.

Edit: To give a temporary fix for this, if you experience problems joining a server that runs dm_crossfire, just go to steam\steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms\maps , delete dm_crossfire, re-join, you will download the same crossfire version the server has.

Edit2: This doesn’t seem to happen to everyone and i somehow believe its linked to switching from the public beta version of the game to the stable one.

I think a lot of issues are coming from lack of knowledge on how the workshop tool and uploading, works. I’ll make a post about it soon.

To get a normal mod to work, you should just have to subscribe, and thats it.

Looking into this still. The OAR Uncut mod uses custom audio, and it issupposedly working fine. Everything is properly .vpk’d and folder put in the right order, yes?

The audio from OaR Uncut is working correctly.

Quoting all you so you can see this.

I checked with the programmer in charge of the workshop tool. the addons folder is now no longer supported. You’ll need to be doing development through the workshop. It’s a bit of an annoyance, but think of it this way. By testing your mods through the workshop, you’re testing them as your ‘customers’ would be. Those who play your mod aren’t going to be just downloading and overwriting some files, they’ll just subscribe to the worksop. There are things that change between a local file and the workshop addon, it’s a different environment. By developing through the workshop, you’re able to eliminate those issues completely, as you’ll be closer to the environment that your players will be in. It’s basically and better practice thing.

Any news about Closed Caption fix???

Italian and Spanish still doesn’t works!!!

I have been able to make them work using the workaround I posted about a few weeks ago. Did that not work? [WORKAROUND] How to enable supported Closed Captions.

Well, using the custom folder for mods is better and quicker IMO because you don’t need to do this folder crap for each individual one, as per subbing to them (though I noticed older mods I can’t find anymore when I sub to them I.E. the M4?).

Please tell me you’ll end up changing this though, because as an author the less tedious it is the better

Ok, just started OAR and I’m getting purple textures. I know what you posted in the OP, but is this possibly an incompatibility between OAR loop and OAR uncut?

EDIT: Yup, removing OAR loop fixed the problem.

Hammer seems to fail to load since my Black Mesa updated, anyone else having this issue?

Mine seems to be running perfectly fine. Anyone else having issues?

Mine is also perfectly fine. Perhaps your gameconfig got borked?

GameConfig looks fine & shows nothing out of the ordinary, got a tweet back on Twitter after asking the question and someone else is having issues too, done a validation to no effect, really don’t want to un-install and re-install

When you connect the “vpk” through “gameinfo” everything works. Also recall errors occur as long as the console does not enter the command “snd_restart”, then everything becomes normal before the game did not enter again. Apparently it is not that used in the expansion sound, but the fact that the addon replaces the original audio files.

Yeah, it seems something in the update broke all custom sound replacements

Thank you guys for this quickly responded patch issues.

First thing i noticed was that the Shotgun and Crossbow world models weren’t defying gravity anymore.
(spawning in air when dropped by enemies)

Can someone tell me where this custom folder is located? I also have mods that no longer work, in what folder should I put the mod files now if I want non-uploaded mods to work?

There is a Steam Guide detailing how to set it up (yes, you have to set it up).

You can actually rename the name of the folder as you desire, even to ‘addons’, effectively somewhat “reviving” the old addons folder. Just make sure to change the text accordingly in gameinfo.txt (as shown in the guide, just exchange the word “custom” with “addons”, or any folder name of your choice, preferably without spaces).

Just make sure to always test if your mod works in the Workshop by subscribing it if you are ever going to upload it.

I tried to follow the guide step by step , but does not change anything!
The error is always the same:

\resource\closecaption_Italian.txt not found
\resource\closecaption_english.txt will be used

after type cc_lang Italian!!

I close Steam, re-start Steam and re-start the game… but Italian Closed Caption doesn’t appear, nowhere!

Both Italian and Spanish subtitles work perfectly fine on my game. Are you sure you are doing everything correctly? I noticed you are using capital letters, but that shouldn’t be a problem.

Disclaimer: I’m not Italian. I also didn’t need to restart the Steam nor game. You can change the language in real time, in-game.

That error is normal.

Yea, I checked all the languages before making the guide. I’m kind of stumped at what could be causing the issue.
