Black Mesa 2009 Update

Like I said, all we can do is sit and wait. Some of us have been waiting for 5 years for this mod to release. A few months/weeks won’t really matter. We all would like it to release when it’s convenient for us, but if the mod’s not finished it cannot be done. :expressionless:

Heh, that site’s really quite funny. Explains a lot. Nice to know they have a sense of humor about things!

Kudos on the on-going homage to Valve, BM Devs.

auh. Well its all good. I can wait a little longer - but not much. like a few days at most.

PingZaid I too have been waiting for 5 year since the first anouncement. I still think we should motivate them to release sooner than later, because as you know releasing later will not be a “better, bug free” game, it just means they didnt finish the job to start having the community test for bugs. If I had to guess, they are being held up from a couple team members and are not able to put the pieces together for even an internal beta test before release.

wow, Alot of people on these forums are immature. Everyone who isnt will know who I speak of.

Speaking of one HF1 mod I would have loved to seen ported over to HF2 is “They Hunger” I know the mod team is making a new game, but it looks like it may not get released. Too bad someone couldnt remake that game with the HF2 Engine.

Oh, really? Last I heard, Half-Life was abbreviated as HL, not HF. And Black Widow Games is currently in progress of making They Hunger: Lost Souls. Even though it’s not the original mod ported over to Source.

wait it’s not HF?

I’m just gonna go play through Half-Life 2 and it’s episodes again to set my mind at ease.
Who knows, might just pick up Half-Life Source again too.

How can you motivate them anymore? This is a mod being watched by thousands and thousands of people including huge companies like valve? I am sure if it was possible, they would release in 2009, but they want to release a truly stunning mod. This is what the devs are going to show as their work when looking for jobs, they don’t want it to be crappy or even have one small bug in it.

Yes, I’ve counted the days.
I can only wish the best for you, guys. Keep up your good work. I’m sure this mod will be amazing.

Postponing Christmas.

Well, now that the announcement is done, all this thread does is provide a venue for people to express their opinions regarding the announcement. Obviously quite a few people feel that they need to express their opinions about this mod, myself included, and considering that you (the mod team, nothing personal) have stated that the mod release date has been changed, people are going to be annoyed, and use this thread to express their opinions. Simply put, it is my opinion that the only threads that will be devoid of “douchbaggery and prickley posts” will not relate to the mod at all. You cannot please everyone, and even those that are pleased might still troll for the heck of it.

Douchebaggery and prickley posts + trolls typically get banned…but it could be just my imagination, lack of sleep, driving for 25-26 hours nonstop, paranoia, or a combination of all of those that could be influencing my judgement…

People who are annoyed can take up drinking. Works for me even though im not really annoyed :awesome:

You must think you’re somewhere else… This is the Black Mesa forum.

Shhh! If you don’t claim it, it didn’t happen!

I would like to think that in general, most are disappointed but at least understand and are willing to suck it up and be a bit more patient.

People need to think of Black Mesa as a pint of Guinness. Dark, Bitter and too much will give you the shits…

…oh and the whole “Good things come to those who wait” thing.

probaly the one that always wears big leather army boots

Exactly. I was just thinking to myself - This is a HUGE PLUS for ANYONE involved in it, because when bms is released, this will show any employer that people from this project are committed to doing high quality work, and will get the job done, even while holding down another job.

Better a good quality product on their portfolio than a shitty half-assed one.

Video pls to prove progress? Something man! Something!

I’m tempted to ask for one-minute long, raw, unedited footage to stop the questions like the above.

Or have I just done that?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
