[ARG] The Pizza Code Mystery

Maybe if we catalog all the “THE PIZZA IS A LIE” messages in all the levels, we can do something with that? Like… something with the level name itself (ex: c1a1)?
i
By the way, I found another “THE PIZZA IS A LIE” message at the start of Blast Pit.

Creo que fue la razón por la que lo tengo abierto todo el día. Me enganche y me encanta. Sigo el HL desde que un amigo me lo presento y ha cambiado mi vida.

Me parece excelente el BMS. Mis felicitaciones a los creadores.

Anyway let’s continue talking in english so people don’t get angry with us.

BTW where are you from?

Yes please! Also keep chat like “where are you from” out of this thread please. This is about the Black Mesa ARG. If you want to have a friendly chat, go here: https://forums.blackmesasource.com/showthread.php?t=12518

Hey, what I specifically asked for was ‘mysterious-yet-helpful’ hints. ARG creators drop those all the time, it would hardly be out of line.

Edit: and my logic was pretty much “it’s 9:00, I’m tired, we’re at a partial dead end, and it can’t hurt.”

Just got back from being afk and on myn irc was:

not sure if more trolling…if so, I hate you guys - same ip host as the Dr_Horn message from earlier, so possibly the same person

HyperByte: Of course i will try to write in english.

Here’s the dialog I have mention before.

Hope this helps.

Okay, I hate to jump on everything a dev says as relevant to the ARG, but in another thread stormseeker just confirmed that the biodome complex referenced on the whiteboards and stuff isn’t actually the QE building, it’s the one from OP4.

Not sure if this idea has already been given, and it’s also not in-game, and may not be related, but anyway…

Has anyone thought of looking for any clues in this file?
https://www.blackmesasource.com/bmrf-employment-letter.pdf
(That’s the one that was linked on the homepage while the countdown for release was still there)

I think that that’s just plot, and a bit of a recap of all the available backstory for HL1; they’ve got the Innsbruck lab, the May dates from Decay, etc.

Edit: Who’s HB though? Is that just a stylized WB, for Wallace Breen?

it says ‘tb’

I think it is a “tb”, as the previous line says “OTA: tb”. I don’t even know what OTA stands for though, so I could be wrong…

But now that you mentioned it, that’s the part of this file that got me thinking, as the rest of it is completely normal. I also thought of Wallace Breen, but that is definitely not a “w”.

Edit: Another thing to note, is that the original letter, found in the instruction manual of Half-life for PS2, has a different signature. “IM”

EDIT: OTA - office of the administrator.

Hey… I had a look at QE myself, both before and after the scientist rescue - considering the level seems to have changed a bit after you revisit it I figured that might be worth a try, but all I got for my troubles were these thoughts:

5120 seems significant on this board… others have pointed that out.

“Anthony” and “Security Officer Sisk” (either one or two people) are called out by Dr. Horn on whiteboards regarding his pizza:

There are pictures of galaxies Messier 81 (NGC 3031) and Messier 13 (NGC 6205) in the administrator’s office… so we’re not under any shortage of 4 digit codes…

This seems odd, considering there is only one of them and it’s by Dr. Horn’s desk.

It’s not interactive, but I can’t help but think it’s a clue for something.

A reminder that we’re gradually gathering on and irc channel #BMS-ARG which you can access on https://webchat.quakenet.org/

sorry to all those who’ve joined and then quit within a minute (quite a few of you)

@Xappy.

Anthony Stone is the name of OnBoardError.

I’m not sure it means anything that OBE has been stealing Dr. Horn’s (Stormseeker’s) pizzas…

Damn it, I’m sure there’s something to do with all that pizza but I have no idea.

That IRC message translates into:

I think it was a troll, though.

“Don’t let him find us”?

Yeah, probably a troll. Makes no sense in this context.

asm how did you decrypt that?

No decryption done, it’s just base64 encoding.

How was that encoded?

Ah ok,
so that’s

same message again.

Xappy, use [CODE] tags, not quote tags, so that your text won’t get formatted with random smileys and the like.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
