[ARG] The Pizza Code Mystery

So do we have multiple kinds of pizza boxes we can spawn? Regardless, someone needs to take a look at the pizzaguy01 files.

And if there is a scientists labeled “Dr. Horn” in that room, shouldn’t we try to give him a pizza? I’d do this part myself but I don’t know the console command for spawning pizza.

OH! I noticed that. On Chrome, I have a dark theme, so the transparent part is obvious:

EDIT:
Original icon ripped from the site:

the same icon with a layer of pink behind it:

aand, zoomed in:

Hmm, that’s odd, but it doesn’t look like anything.

And remember that that one guy actually started trying to hack the site, albeit accidentally. We may want to try to avoid that.

Those are all just the files pertaining to the same pizza model. Objects in Source need a bunch of stuff to work properly.

pizzaguy01.vcd is the choreographed scene in Lambda Core with the security guard making the sarcastic remark about Gordon being the pizza guy, I believe. I’ll need to double check.

No need to worry, grabbing an image from a site is far from hacking, lol.
It’s probably irrelevant. My guess is that whoever was making the icon was working with a white background and didn’t see the transparent parts.

So the game has sound files that explicitly mention pizza in three places, right?
The security guard who lost the bet in AM
The security guard who suggests you go grab pizza at the end of QE
The security guard in LC who jokes about you being the pizza guy.
Security guard “Sisk” is mentioned specifically on a whiteboard in QE.

If Dr. Horn is the one who gets fried by the Tau Cannon, perhaps we should take a look at it? I can’t recall offhand the model/serial number on the frame, but IIRC, it is 4 digits.

I’m pretty sure that the Tau Cannon’s number was just carried over from Half-Life 1.

Edit: Yep, in both games it’s the XVL1456.

I was thinking about those two and thought why not bring a pizza from qe to that pizza delivery guy… you know what I mean I’m just lazy at typing :stuck_out_tongue: anyways anybody wanna check that in game or check if theres a trigger in hammer (or whatever you would use to check that)?!

Someone already brought him the pizza. It’s in one of the screenshot threads. Nothing happend.

That would have been a much better achievement than the hat one.

If I understood the files correctly, it is the gibbed already dead model of an scientist in that room that is Dr Horn (I guess the alive NPC is only there for the recorded conversation and might be teleported out after he said his line about overcharging)

Clarification: there is one dead gibbed scientist in the room, one alive that has the conversation with the also alive security guard.

I managed to finish a first revision of the VIC encoder. I followed the tutorial at this link https://everything2.com/user/raincomplex/writeups/VIC+cipher

The code is attached as a text file. I wrote it on a Linux machine, but it should compile in Visual Studio. I didn’t have time to write much error checking into it, so it will screw up if you input the data incorrectly. The data format used in the tutorial works perfectly fine though.

Also, the behavior of the program hasn’t been tested when the checkerboard keyword repeats letters like “a sin to err” does. Just remove the duplicates before you type it in (“a sin to er”). That’s what it would do if I had more time to code it anyway.
VIC.txt (12.6 KB)

Isn’t there a console command… something like “speakall” to make a selected npc speak all of his or her possible replies/statements?

Easiest to just check the original sound files:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\BMS\sound

BTW, we’re currently looking for some volunteers to help with filling in a wiki with the currently known info to save new participants from having to read 40 pages to see everything that’s been tried and found already

https://thepizzaisalie.wikia.com/wiki/The_Pizza_Code_Mystery_ARG_Wiki

It’s VERY sparse so far, so anyone with wiki editing knowledge, it would be much appreciated if you could start digging into it

Ah. Well, I don’t know much about this stuff. It’s fun to follow along though. Did some snooping myself. Didn’t find anything useful though.

New theory: each segment of the large code relates to a different cipher?

Gonna try inputting each segment into the cascading ciphers mentioned on the pie chart whiteboard. Worth a shot while we’re waiting for a proper VIC decoder.

Didn’t someone just post one?

Found this in the room with the supposed BM Facility date (June 198-) in QE. Anyone have any idea what it is? It is clearly a schematic for something, but what? Furthermore, it’s not exactly related to the Tesla overload button, plus it’s not throughout the rest of the game anywhere.

EDIT: There are also two “on-off” controllers on either side of this main schematic, which makes me think that the “sys-con” definitely refers to a system controller. The feedback loops are kind of strange, so what variety of controller is up in the air.
