[ARG] The Pizza Code Mystery

Whoah. I was gone a week and suddenly this exploded, and fuck I missed alot. Oh well. Damn if I only I could get the game and help you guys out. I can’t right now because of reasons…

oh, one interesting thing about this, the board with the “don’t tell junek”… is in Juneks office, right behind his desk. i chuckled at that thinking it was a joke when I read it, but maybe it’s relevant?

Can anyone confirm one way or the other that it’s new? rolkot can you get a better shot? it’s just barely illegible to me (and boy does this game seem to be full of that…).

This is definitely new, and definitely pizza related.[/size]

I wasn’t able to make out all the words, but this is what I was able to transcribe:

“The board over yonder” might mean the screen to the right, with the green text. I’m not sure what language it is, but it appears to do bitwise operations on data… Could be a big deal. :slight_smile:

Edit: found the texture:
steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms\bms_textures_dir.vpk -> materials/models/props_office/monitor_screen_on5.vtf

so6e03=Man of the People

Taking a stab at reading that message…

Core… Datacore?

EDIT: Oh, just noticed that the source texture’s been found. OH WELL

Oops, it’s actually s04e03, Brothers.

Thought I might as well do a noclip runthrough of Black Mesa Inbound, seeing what has changed, and finding old things to make sure they are still there, as well as some other little tidbits.

I got 6 screenies:

Probably gonna end up doing each level when I get the time.

Alright, my mistake. No more inferring from me.

Assuming VHE means Valve Hammer Editor; can we figure out where this screenshot was taken? It might direct us to another clue.

Having barely any knowledge of Star Trek, I went and checked the list of whiteboards. The closest I could get to 4 - 3 was C2a4x_labboard3.jpg, which incidentally is the one with “Don’t tell Junek” on it (see above).

Anyway - I’d like to know the exact location of the monitor, and the nearest whiteboards. There might be a connection there.

I don’t know for sure, but I think someone figured out that the VHE screenshot was of the anti-mass spectrometer? I’m going to take a look in-game and see if I can figure anything out.

EDIT: Nope, the image is way too low-res for me to find anything coherent. Bummer.

So, question: if you go to https://www.bmrf.us, it redirects you to /zero.html… with ?xxxxxxx behind it, the x’s being either 6 or 7 numbers.

Does anybody know the goal of those numbers, or where they come from? It seems they’re randomized, but I don’t get what for.

It doesn’t mater what is after ?, web page will still be same. So yeah, they might mean something.

I don’t have a lot of time to devote to this right now, but to clear a few things up:

The screen is in the control room for the cryo lab with the alien grunts. I have textures set to very high, so I’m not sure it can be any more legible. I think the “board over yonder” simply refers to the one with the code printed on it. Having read the transcription, I’m not sure now if there’s any clues in this, apart from there possibly being another pizza message or maybe if the Star Trek episode has something relevant in it. I simply noticed references to pizza and took a screenshot without taking the time to attempt to read the whole thing.

@Jake R

var buster = Math.floor((Math.random() * 9999999) + 1); window.location.replace("https://www.bmrf.us/zero.html?" + buster);
Additionally, in the S4E3 episode, this is what has struck me at the beginning

Coincidence? I think not.

Then I realized: “Blackjack, also known as twenty-one, is the most widely played casino banking game in the world.”
Could it be that the hex digits are somehow blackjack cards and the file encodes games of blackjack? I haven’t been able to get anything meaningful so far though.

Is this the episode where the captain says ‘I don’t think he understands the same form of reason as we do’, or something along those lines. I think that was referenced on the Tempus Omnia Revelant page or something else earlier

From QE water room (‘aquatics’ or something like that, the one with the small vertical tubes in the center). Seems to be showing a reading of the components of Xen ‘water’, including Niobium and Cubemap Samples.

Has anyone else noticed the bibles? Are they new? Is it just me or do they always occur near the color-bar test-pattern TVs (which I can only guess must be new to the store version)? I have no real reason for it but I feel there’s some connection there. The color-bar tvs i’m talking about are interestingly fixed objects (totally immobile), and breakable.

Has anyone else heard a baby laugh at random times? Not joking.

I did not heard anything like that, and most of test-patterned TV’s are movable (not pickupable) for me. What is interesting for me - that is DOOM door sounds used on Tau Cannon pickup

Ok, what the hell. I found a file called gasworks_tower_file.ogg and it seems to just be a guy ranting at you, with some overlayed speech as well. Does anyone know what this is?

EDIT: OK then, its the Navy Seal Copypasta. Why is this in the game files?

I CALLED IT BABY!!!

Hell yes!

Everybody told me I was wrong, or that I wasn’t factoring in this. But I CALLED IT MOFO’S! Right here in the ARG thread, I said, like several pages back, “count-down=BM release date!” HA HA AHAHAHAH! Yeah!!!

SUCK MY CUNT BITCHES! i’M RIGHT!!!

It’s probally because DOOM used a lot of public domain sound files.

It’s not - it’s from this episode instead (TNG, S01E08). But there might be a link between the two.

The bibles aren’t new - the corpse found in one of the offices (I forgot whose) already had a bible laying on the desk in front of him in the mod. I don’t believe we ever found a reasoning behind them, but it seemed to be a dead end last I checked. Then again, the same counts for the pizzas, the purple hats, and possibly other objects we’ve found. We know they’re there, we know they seem rather out of place, but we don’t know why and they don’t seem to have a purpose. So by all means, if you’re up for it, explore this topic further. They might even be in other places or have a different purpose in the Steam release.

Pretty sure the color bars are also not new: for instance, check out the background image at the very top of this forum (which isn’t new at all). I remember finding similar color bars while playing through the mod a while back. You might be talking about other color bars though, so I can’t say for certain.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
