Hey, like I said, I don’t mind you dumping all those links here, off-topic or not. I just don’t like massive amounts of scrolling, especially since I also check this forum on my phone (which already requires more scrolling than normal). So thanks for the edits! =D
I don’t know if G-man has any connection to the ARG. I just think it’s quite a few possible connections, and G-man isn’t that big of a stretch, right? I mean… what IS G-man doing in background.mp4, something fully connected to the ARG?
As for the double-crossing thing - it could be, but right now I can’t make heads nor tails out of the storyline. The messages are too jumbled up, especially for someone who came into the ARG late like me, and there’s no clear overview to help me out. Who sent what to who with what intention? In fact, what’s the timeframe of the messages in the ARG as compared to the Half Life 1 storyline? I’m fairly sure the start was before the whole alien invasion thing - these pizzas came from outside, and I bet Pizza Hut couldn’t just ring the doorbell with all those aliens walking around. But the Base64 filenames on KXBM.net mention the alien lifeforms. So… yeah. Any ideas?
bmrf.us only started redirecting to kxbm.net after the EAS broadcast. This would seem to indicate that the resonace cascade happened after most of the events in the ARG, which might explain why the only messages we have gotten since were the SOS.
I wrote Dr. Stone’s wiki page. In that sentence you quoted, I was referring to posts by Dr. Stone’s namesake, Anthony Stone, a.k.a. OnboardError. [1][2][3]
One interesting bit of info about 0418_08151814’s avatar image: On the old forum (before the switch to new forum software) the original file name of an avatar image was kept, and thus you would see it if you downloaded/saved the image. The file name of 0418_08151814’s avatar image was “cryptos.jpg”.
Thanks! Do you think we should add that data to the wiki pages? Stone’s forum posts in particular. As for 0418’s avatar’s filename: I checked the filename myself yesterday or so for exactly that reason, and indeed found the names are lost. On the other hand, we already know he’s part of the ARG, so I’m not sure how useful it is to add the data to the wiki now.
Combining this with “21 (goes) into 1”, that would make HALOS “1”. I’m not sure what this tells us. Is HALOS the first quantum computer, and are they trying to build more, or something?
Same here, even after Ctrl+F5. However, looking at the source I saw some of the DR HORN caps are marked and some aren’t. Why are the first R and the H not marked with while the other 4 letters are?
In other news, playing through Black Mesa. In a security (?) room right in front of a big frozen room (constant HP drain) in Apprehension, there was a scientist who used the exact quote “The science team has been tracking your progress with the Black Mesa security system. Unfortunately, so is the military.” - as found in Base64 on KXBM.net. I don’t believe I’ve found any of the other quotes yet, though. I’m not sure what this means for the ARG storyline.
I get “Google Chrome could not load the webpage because terminal.blackmesasource.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.”
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
