It wasn’t directed at you.
Edit: Just saying that this shouldn’t be taken for a release date. It only implies that it will be released at that time if they continue at the current rate of progress.

my bad
(also, you should have said “then-current” :3 just being nit-picky)
TL;DR
Too much reading for me to really pay attention to what’s going on in this thread except for part of the first post. I just want to wonder why there are so many people who complain that the mod is dead (probably a stupid question). Sure I joke around about every now and then, but I’m pretty sure if the mod were dead, we’d know. Devs, most likely wouldn’t be posting anymore. In fact, they would probably tell us if the mod was dead.
I’m just going to end this before it becomes a TL;DR it self. If this seemed off topic, I didn’t bother read the thread at all after seeing all the long posts by Vormaen on the first page, didn’t want to deal with 10 pages of thar. No offense though, I’m actually trying to be nice. But that’s kind of hard when you’re sleep deprived at 12:30 (edit: thats supposed to be 12: 30…) in the morning on a weekday.
How many official titles get cancelled in an official capacity? Not too many… (though I don’t think this mod is dead and I don’t remember many people claiming as such, just that people want a stronger emotional attachment)
Though I’m shocked by how many people have remain civilized, I’m still not sure why people continue to post replies that have nothing to do with the original topic. This topic does fall within discussions about the mod and its development, which includes PR. Not sure why it really belongs elsewhere.
As to the people that keep screaming ‘it’s up to the devs, and you have no right to ask anything’, someone kindly pointed out ‘what’s the worst that can happen, they actually listen and understand the impact their PR ignorance had?’ Valve can get away with their silence and long release schedules because they’ve proven they can deliver. People need to remember that this isn’t Valve working on it. I don’t have anything for or against the developers, but as with any new team you have to prove your worth. I believe they will once it’s released, but with how they’ve handled everything so far they have a ways to go.
I’m not sure how updating a twitter feed or posting official announcments will significantly delay the release date. Sure, I know a few people that can be easily distracted, but unless someone decides to go write a novel about the development of Black Mesa I’m pretty sure the worst that can happen is a few days.
The thing is, us “mindless sheep” that keep “ass kissing” consider the Devs to be our friends. Those people who get into the community and lighten up enough to stick around and not rage out will find themselves in one of the tightest knit communities they have ever seen.
Believe me, when I first joined, I went through the same wash cycle you guys are right now. I was mad, I was sad, sometimes I laughed, sometimes I was laughed at. Soon, I realised that no one was actually the great big douche bag they acted like. I checked my real life at the door, and made friends.
Now what? I’m here, I act like a giant dick to everyone and have friends who I KNOW will help out and give out honest advice. Is it the greatest system? Probably not, but it is unique, and if you can bring yourself to realize the culture, you will find something very special amongst the madness.
Now enough of this gooey stuff. You’re all faggots.
love you too
The Outsider… a good song with a horrible music video for something Maynard made by A Perfect Circle.
i think at this point everyone is just holding each others’ hands and saying to each other “it’s gonna come out soon, i promise”
and not much else
Giiiiiiivvvvveee peeeaaaace a chance!
I, too, have been quite surprised by how civil the discourse has been in the thread thus far. I’m proud of you folks! =D
Firstly, what do the devs lose by having bad PR? Everyone who says the mod is dead will be some of the first lined up to download it when it’s released.
And also, IIRC, the BMS Dev team came together for Black Mesa, and they are disbanding after Black Mesa. Some of them may work together in the future, but not as Black Mesa Devs. Though I’m sure maybe one or two might fix a bug or two that pops up. You can never plan against the tonnes and tonnes of different computer setups out there
I personally think the Dev team have done a brilliant job.
Well I by no means think the project is dead. Not by a long shot. But I would love to know on what caused the massive delays everyone keeps mentioning. That would always keep my mind at peace. I can wait, just would love to know why.
Holding hands? I don’t do kumbaya…
You have no right to know. Unfortunately for you if the devs don’t feel like talking about it, there is no obligation for them to do so.
Meh, it wasn’t ready just like my jacket potatos currently baking in the oven…
lalalalalalalalala
Bscly
Great news.
Did someone decide to leave the team? However keep up the awesome work!
Raminator posts
thread instantly becomes irrelevant.
everybody stops complaining.
crosses fingers please, please, please, please.
I have never been more excited about the mod than now. Which isn’t saying much.
So xen is officially done, and if not for things that need to be fixed and improved we would be playing already?
I’ll wait as long as it takes.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
