Now give advice and feedback and what-not
You should give the map a specific theme. For instance, the courtyard could easily become some sort of⌠Sewer place.
Iâd be more comfortable calling it a ramp-room, but Pyroâs right, HL2 has a lot of good concrete textures to give that place a sewer-like theme. Each area can feel more lively and interesting if you give it a purpose.
Once you start implementing a theme, youâll find some artistic license to make the level more beautiful. If you go with a sewer-theme in a room, for example only (use your own imagination):* Does the floor need to be completely smooth, or could I make a gentle dip to simulate drainage?
- Does the wall need to be plain, or could I add the end of a small pipe to make this feel more like water would go here?
The lighting is looking pretty good, very playable. As you keep on working, remember that every light should have a source visible in-game, like a lamp or fixture or something. That truly separates decent maps from the normal ugly âfirst mapâ ones.
